Hungry, busy, and short on time—these were the core frustrations that shaped Bite of the Bayou, a food delivery and pickup app designed for those who need convenience without the hassle.
Understanding the User
To create a truly seamless experience, I started where all great design begins: with the users. Through interviews and research, I honed in on the needs of busy professionals who simply don’t have time to cook. But the insights didn’t stop there. Users weren’t just pressed for time—they were exhausted, frustrated with long lines, and often overwhelmed by complicated ordering systems. These pain points became the driving force behind my design decisions.
Starting the Design
Jumping into Figma, I sketched out wireframes with a focus on simplicity and efficiency. The goal was clear: make ordering effortless. Every tap, swipe, and scroll needed to feel intuitive, allowing users to place their orders without unnecessary friction.
Refining the Experience
With an early prototype in hand, I ran usability tests and gathered direct feedback from potential users. The insights were invaluable. Some struggled with navigation, others found redundancies in the order flow, and a few were unclear on how to return to the home screen. These were problems I was determined to solve.
Final Touches & Iterations
Diving deep into feedback, I made crucial refinements:
Added a "Home" label to the logo, ensuring users instantly understood how to navigate back—no second-guessing.
Streamlined the checkout process by removing redundant fields, eliminating unnecessary steps, and making sure users weren’t asked for the same info twice.
Polished the pickup and delivery flows, making every step smoother and more intuitive.
What started as an idea became a refined, user-friendly experience—one that allows people to order their favorite bayou-inspired meals with ease.
